Homemade Siomai Wrapper (Wonton), Siomai Recipe and Beef Noodle Soup


How To Make Siomai Wrapper (Wonton)

Ingredients: 
2 cups all purpose flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup + 2 tbsp of hot water

Procedure:
  1. In a bowl put 2 cups of APF
  2. Dissolve salt in hot water and pour into the the flour
  3. Mix (add water if necessary sometimes it depends on the kind of flour that you will use)
  4. Knead the mixture it forms a dough and becomes smooth
  5. Form into log and cut into 15-20 grams per piece and round each small pieces
  6. Cover with cling wrap and let it rest for 30 mins.
  7. Dust surface with corn flour
  8. Roll one dough at a time into a round disc using roller pin (4 inches diameter) it should be thin but not too thin to tear
  9. Cut and remove excess dough (i used round lid cover)
  10. Starch them good and pile them up so it will not stick to each other








SIOMAI RECIPE



INGREDIENTS:
  • 500 grams ground beef
  • 3/4 cup onion (chopped)
  • 3/4 cup carrots (chopped)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • siomai wrapper  

DIPPING SAUCE:
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp lemon or calamansi
  • 1 tsp crunchy chili garlic (optional) 

Note: You can use pork, beef, chicken or any meat you like ;)
HOW TO MAKE SIOMAI:
  • Combine all the ingredients together.
  • Wrap the meat in siomai wrapper by placing about 1 tbsp of meat in the center of the wrapper then press and seal with water all the sides to the middle leaving an open space on top.   Or press the meat with the wrapper in between your thumb and forefinger like holding a cone until it holds it's shape. 
  • Place all the wrapped meat in a steamer brushed with some oil to avoid the wrapper from sticking. 
  • Steam for 20-25 minutes.
  • Serve with dipping sauce. 
  • Serve warm.

Note:
 The excess wrapper I use it to make a beef noodle soup i just cut it into long slices like noodles 😊 I just boiled water with beef cubes and put some of the remaining beef siomai fillings and let it boil until the noodles is cook 😋
